So I am thinking….. 

Hurt is between 8 and 9. But officially the Doctor doesn’t class him as a real version of himself because he broke his own code. He destroyed the Timelords and Daleks - he committed genocide. 

Therefore all the Doctors remain in the correct order. 

And Hurt is just the ‘Time War Doctor’ that Ten and Eleven have to battle in the 50th ep. 

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has thought of this. 

This seems plausible.
